Back to University!!! Year 2, 3 and 4.
If feels like I haven’t written in this thing in like ages. My apologies!
It’s been a while since I’ve got back form Newfound and I think things are back to normal here. You know….the same ol’ same ol’ kind of thing!!
Anyway, I’ve been working for a while now and I absolutely love it. In case you all don’t know what my job is, I work for the CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the Blind). My job is to organize and run a summer day camp for blind and visually impaired kids in KW. The kinds are having a blast and seeing smiles on their little faces is worth going to work. They definitely keep me on my toes, but I don’t mind it at all. I absolutely love it!
So far we took a trip to the University of Waterloo to see (feel) all the dinosaur bones and fossils. The instructor was very helpful and the kids thought he was amazing. We also went swimming at the Waterloo Recreation Complex. The people there were rally nice, but the pool was very busy. It was hard to keep an eye on all of the campers. The best part of the week was Kid zone (very large indoor jungle Jim) in Waterloo. There were A LOT of things they could feel and there were A LOT of sounds they could hear. All the kinds participated and they never complained once (except when they had to leave).
Each day I may be tired as hell when camp is over, but I always leave with a smile on my face. Those kinds are outstanding and they deserve to have fun and to be treated with respect in society. It’s a shame that some cannot see, but it doesn’t mean they should be excluded from anything. Working with these kids is a life long passion, and I can’t wait to finish school.
~Lots of Love~
